As the world gets back to business in the wake of Covid-19 things are the same but different in Khao Sok. Covid-19 Khao Sok restrictions are in place but are a small price to pay for the amazing experience that Riverfront Resort and the national park have to offer.

Covid-19 Khao Sok restrictions – Keeping it a safe place to visit

Thailand did a really great job of containing the corona virus epidemic. The Kingdom shut its borders and put travel restrictions in place very quickly. Whilst it caused some hardship in the short term, Thailand is now benefiting from minimal fatalities and few reported cases. At the time of writing in early July there have been no domestic cases for over a month. In Khao Sok itself there were zero cases reported. None at all.

Also, unlike the big cities, the labor force is made up of the locals. People did not have to travel back to their villages. In the same way, now that travel restrictions have lifted, we don’t have an influx of people from the villages. In short Khao Sok has to be one of the safest places in the world to visit. Some Covid-19 Khao Sok restrictions remain in place but Khao Sok is certainly a safe place to visit.

Riverfront Resort – Covid-19 restrictions

Here at Khao Sok Riverfront Resort we have put safety measures in place. Luckily our accommodation is in individual cottages and there is plenty of space between them. We have lovely gardens and wide paths with plenty of outside spaces to enjoy safely.

Our Covid-19 Khao Sok restrictions include monitoring, social distancing, washing and cleaning. We check the temperatures of all visitors to the resort. We also provide face masks and sanitizing gel to our guests as well as our staff. For everyone’s safety we do ask that you wear a mask and use the sanitizing gel when in the reception and other communal areas. Our staff wear masks at all times.

Staff have been trained in all aspects of social distancing, the wearing of masks and the importance of hand washing and sanitizing. We clean all communal areas thoroughly throughout the day.

And that’s about it. You will still enjoy sitting out on your deck, exploring the gardens and lounging in our Rafflesia Restaurant. And the National Park is now open!

Covid-19 Khao Sok – An Explosion of nature

And what a time to visit. The park was closed on 25 March and only reopened on 1st July. In that time there has been a huge regeneration of all aspects of the natural environment. Rangers are seeing animals and birds that have been a rare sight for several years. Khao Sok National Park restrict the number of visitors anyway. Nevertheless thousands of people are usually on the lake, in the floating bungalows or trekking through the forests and jungle.  The result of 3 whole months without visitors is just remarkable. If you have any interest whatsoever in birding, insects, flora or fauna you will be in heaven when you visit.

The park covers an area of 700 Sq. Kms. The lake is an amazing 165 Sq. Kms. This means that you will be in a huge area and spend most of the time outside anyway. Social distancing is part of the experience anyway here. Get away from it all far out on the lake in the floating bungalows. Leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life far behind you as you trek through jungles and forests. And everywhere you look you will be surrounded by amazing views and a fabulous regenerated natural environment. Covod-19 Khao Sok restrictions, while still practiced in the park, will seem insignificant and hardly register as an inconvenience.

Riverfront Resort have put sensible and obvious measures in place. The safety of our guests is our number one priority at this time. After that we do what we have always done. Provide a fabulous relaxing place to stay in Khao Sok village. We are just a few meters away from the park gates and the park is open and ready to excite and amaze you.

Right now in July 2020 we are welcoming travelers from within the country. We look forward to later in the year when our friends from outside will be able to visit again. In October the rainy season comes to an and. This is a fantastic time to visit. The air is fresh, the lake and rivers are full and it is a great time to view wildlife, flora and fauna. This year it promises to be an even more amazing experience after the few months of regeneration mentioned above.

Covid-19 Khao Sok restrictions are likely to remain in place for many months. Perhaps they will become the norm. However it is all part of making Khao Sok one of the safest places in the world to travel to.
